Rachel Palmer, LAC
Rachel’s focus is to provide outpatient psychotherapy to children and adults experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. She uses an integrative, and collaborative, approach which allows for flexibility in treating each person as a unique individual, as well as encouraging individuals to engage in the therapeutic process to facilitate the desired change. Rachel applies a balance of psychodynamic and client-centered therapies with DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). This balance is intended to allow individuals a safe space to be heard and direct their own therapy, while also offering treatment tools to focus on any desired changes in cognition or behavior.
Rachel graduated from William Paterson University of New Jersey with a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. She places a great deal of emphasis on strong therapeutic relationships through which individuals can share their experiences without fear of judgment or reactivity. Rachel believes through maintaining strong relationships that allow for open and honest discussion, clients can begin to contextualize their experiences on a micro-scale within the context of their own lives
and to gain insight into larger social contextualization. Rachel believes a goal of therapy is to form a better relationship, level of trust, and understanding with oneself.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time in nature and has a love of animals. She enjoys spending time at home with her dogs and cat.
